I love gathering at the table. I didn’t realize until I moved away how awesome my parents were for making us have dinner around the table each night. (And with 9 kids and friends always over, I can imagine this wasn’t an easy feat!) But there’s something special about sharing a meal together. It grounds you. It sets whatever you’re separated by to the side for a moment, and you’re all untied by the basic simple necessity of eating.
The Thanksgiving table can get a bad rep for being uncomfortable or dramatic, and rightfully so sometimes! But this year I’d like to encourage you to see those at your table through new eyes. There’s a vulnerability that can’t be avoided while sharing a meal. Everyone eats differently, but everyone has to eat. Really make it a priority to be mindful and truly notice those around you this year. How are they doing, really? We’re all wired with the same, basic necessities, and if you look closely, I’m sure you can be an encouragement, or be encouraged by, someone at the table this year!
And of course having a dope tablescape can’t hurt anything, right?
2) Cut out the flags, punch holes on the x’s, and attach to the wooden craft sticks.
I cut out some fun fall leaves (also a free printable from last year!) to spice up the centerpieces.
