Night Batch was a packaging concept developed for ePac through a condensed brand process. I started with the product and packaging requirements, then worked through naming, visual direction, illustration, typography, and the final package as one connected process.

The Night Batch name came out of the idea of an evening ritual, something you reach for when the day is winding down. That naturally led to a nighttime visual world, but it also solved my technical requirements: showing different opacities and highlighting metallic ink.

A night sky is essentially nature’s gradient. It moves naturally from deep black into lighter tones, so I used that transition as part of the artwork rather than treating opacity as a separate production effect. The layered blacks, stars, and metallic accents became part of the atmosphere while also showing how the print treatment could work on the final pouch.

I explored how illustration could make the concept fit the product experience. The cowgirl riding a unicorn, “bringing in the night” came from the idea of something arriving, almost like a dream. The cowgirl brought confidence and dependability, while the unicorn added just enough product-appropriate whimsy.
